O’Carolan Etcetera Returns to the Annisquam Village Church

O’Carolan Etcetera
With special guest Kathleen Adams, harpsichord

Anglo-Celtic music with an antique twist comes to the Annisquam Village Church on Saturday, October 26, 7:30 PM when the O’Carolan Etcetera ensemble appears in concert, bringing to life the musical legacy of Turlough O’Carolan.  A blind itinerant harper in the time of J. S. Bach, O’Carolan collected and performed some of the most enduring tunes from the Irish countryside, making contact with musicians from the continent whose influences can be discerned in his compositions, if not his in theirs!  The trio combines O’Carolan’s oeuvre with English dance tunes that Jane Austen would have known, Irish and Scottish airs, jigs, and reels that set toes a-tapping, and – not to be missed -  French melodies on the medieval hurdy gurdy!

O’Carolan Etcetera features Cindy McIntire on flute and hurdy-gurdy, Adrienne Howard on violin, and Dick Luecke on guitar.  Kathleen Adams joins in with the  Village Church’s Adams harpsichord for this performance.

The concert benefits the recently refurbished Village Church at the head of Lobster Cove.  Widely known for its beauty and resonant acoustics, this historic 1830’s building is an ideal venue for chamber music and has attracted many world-class musicians.

A reception in the Cove Room, which has also undergone renovations, follows the concert. Admission at the door is $20. / $15. Seniors and Students -- or order on-line through Brown Paper Tickets:
