Summer Concert Series - In Memoriam …. 9 / 11

We invite you to take the time to reflect and refresh your vision and your ears with BSO Cellist, Jonathan Miller and Harpsichordist, John Gibbons (from the MFA trio) who share their intimate music on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. These two extraordinary musicians will solo and play together in an elegiac program that includes works of Vivaldi, Bach, Geminiani, and Couperin and Tomkins. (The Thomas Tomkins piece for harpsichord is entitled: “A Sad Pavan for These Distracted Times,” and he composed it on February 14 in 1649!)

This concert commemorates the profound losses of 9/11 and pays tribute to three people whose vision and love of music made a difference to our world before they took leave of it this year: artist Colin Kennedy, in whose name this series is dedicated, Gabrielle Vawter, a lover of chamber music and a devotee of the Boston Artists Ensemble, and Bernard Greenhouse, cellist of the Beaux Arts Trio for many years…mentor and friend of Jonathan Miller. Join us to nurture your own special sense of commemoration and gratitude.
